Aaron Carter tragically died at the age of 34 after taking a combination of drugs and drowning in his bathtub, which was revealed in a Los Angeles County Coroner’s report earlier this week.
The singer’s history of addiction led to multiple rehab stints during his career in the public eye, and a representative for the late star told Us Weekly that his team had been trying to help him recover to full health.
Holly Davidson of ITC PR, part of Aaron’s team, told the outlet: “Our team actively tried to implement a plan to rehabilitate a recovery to health, however, due to outside influences and triggering dysfunctional relationships, these circumstances made it a challenge.”
She also noted that the team is “glad” the investigations around Aaron’s death have finally concluded with the coroner’s reporter, adding they can now arrange “a celebration of life and send him off to rest”.
The report, released on Tuesday, saw the musician’s death being officially ruled as an accident, with two attributing causes.
The first of which was drowning in the bathtub while the other was the effects of alprazolam, a form of Xanax, and difluoroethane, a gas used as an inhalant which is a central nervous system depressant.
As a result of the substances, the report noted that Aaron was incapacitated while in the full bathtub, which led to his drowning.
In January, the coroners initially ruled out drowning as a potential cause of death as they didn’t detect any water in the singer’s lungs according to TMZ.

The musician is survived by his one-year-old son Prince, his fiancee Melanie Martin, as well as his mother Jane Schneck and his brother, Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter.
Since the autopsy report was released, Melanie claimed the findings didn’t make sense, seemingly siding with Aaron’s mother who has been campaigning for her son’s death to be investigated as a crime.
Melanie told TMZ: “I am still in shock and still miss Aaron every day. I don’t understand the chain of events and this report only has us asking more questions.”
