It's one of the most anticipated shows of 2019, and now finally ITV's Hatton Garden is due to air on Monday – two years after it was originally scheduled.
According to director Jeff Pope, the controversial delays were down to real life criminal Michael 'Basil' Seed's arrest.
The four part drama is based on the true story of four elderly men who pull off an audacious nighttime raid of an underground vault in London, stealing millions of pounds worth of jewellery and cash. Here's all you need to know about the star-studded cast.
Timothy Spall stars as ringleader Terry Perkins, a 67-year-old diabetic career criminal doing one last job before his retirement. One of Britain's best known actors, Spall, 62, is most famous for his starring role in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The BAFTA nominee, who has a career spanning both stage and film, also has roles in Mr Turner, The King’s Speech, and Finding Your Feet under his belt. His most recent venture was playing the role of Clifford Cullen in the film Corrupted. Speaking about the show, Spall said: "They are not lovable rogues. They are criminals. And as we all know, criminality requires ruthlessness. That’s a given part of the chosen profession."
Kenneth Cranham plays the second ringleader of the heist, Brian Reader who had previously assisted with a string of high profile robberies. The Scottish actor is best known for his work as Channer Hellbound: Hellraiser II and Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel in Valkyrie. Most recently, the 74 year old stage and television star appeared as Bishop Morton in TV mini series The Spanish Princess. This is what Cranham said about his character: "Brian Reader was renowned for his meticulous planning. He had it all worked out. He found out where all the cameras were and all of those things."
David Hayman plays criminal mastermind Daniel Jones. The 71-year-old actor is most famous for his role as Pavel in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Earlier this year, he appeared as the dodgy brother of DI Fred Thursday — portrayed by Roger Allam — in ITV Morse prequel Endeavour. More recently, the Scottish Actor impressed fans as Brace, Delaney's trusted manservant, in BBC's Taboo. When asked about his character in the show, Hayman said: "Firstly some of them broke the golden rule and went back to an abandoned job. In fact, Danny wanted to go back to the vault a third time. It was just pure greed.”
Scotsman Alex Norton plays cockney crook John Kenneth Collins, the gang’s 75-year-old driver and lookout. Norton appeared on our screens in January as Eric Baird in the BBC2 comedy Two Doors Down, and starred as DCI Matt Burke in the STV detective drama series Taggart.
Brian F O’Byrne
Brian F O'Byrne plays the young Michael Seed, an alarm specialist who was believed to be the ringleader of the heist. The Irish Actor, 52, won a BAFTA TV Award for his role in the drama series Little Boy Blue, and has previously had roles in Million Dollar Baby, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead and Bug.
Geoff Bell plays Carl Wood, another member of the notorious gang. One of Bell's best known roles is as Tommy Hatcher in Green Street. He is also known for roles in Wild Target, Kingsman: The Secret Service and RocknRolla.
