ABC wants to reboot all the cop shows.
The network is already working on a reboot of its iconic drama “NYPD Blue.” Now, Deadline reports it is developing a reboot of Dick Wolf’s “New York Undercover.”
“New York Undercover” originally aired on Fox for four seasons from 1994 to 1998. Malik Yoba and Michael DeLorenzo starred as two undercover detectives in New York City’s Fourth Precinct. It was the first police drama on American television to feature two people of color in the starring roles. The new version will feature fresh characters and cast members.
“Undercover” is set in the same fictional universe as Wolf’s NBC franchise “Law & Order,” the One Chicago franchise, and “Homicide: Life on the Street.” This would be Wolf’s first ABC show since his 2003 “Dragnet” reboot.
The reboot is still in the very early stages; ABC is currently casting its “NYPD Blue” pilot.
